Internet censorship study

http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,72104-0.html?tw=rss.index
Wired has a very interesting article on an ongoing study into global censorship of the internet.

Given that the NZ Government already has a team (part of the Police?) that supposedly monitors some/all/fraction? Of the NZ internet traffic, I wonder if they'ed be in a position to censor traffic, without ISP help...

And while we don't have the same freedom of speech laws that the USA has, I suspect that our freedom of information laws might be enough to any overt actions...

And yes, while I work for a law firm, I am not a lawyer, so I could have it completely wrong...

Chapman Tripp's Wellington office has moved to 10 Customhouse Quay. Our innovative client centre will open in December, providing a new home for doing business in Wellington.
Our PO Box, telephone and fax numbers remain the same.
