Million Artists - Abstract Art Fundraiser

Million Artists - Abstract Art Fundraiser

Call me old fashioned, but why not just give the money straight to charity? Instead of being suckered in by what is (now repeated) an enterprising, yet stupid idea...

  • Craig,
there is nothing wrong about donating directly to charity... I would suggest that by myself. My idea was (outside of the Guinness and the picture) to bring those who can't donate large amounts. Most of the charities do not accept donations under $5 - these payments are too expencive to proceed, but we accept payments from $1.00

    Regards,
    Eugene

  • Sorry Eugene, you'll have to excuse my scepticism after seeing the hoo-haa over the MillionDollarHomePage and the spin-offs that generated:
    here, here and here.

And there are no doubt others.

  • No problem Craig, I've got much harder criticism (even from my friends), so I used to it :)

And I've seen those sites. Not all of them, but many. Their target is to advertise their user's businesses – nice idea but it could work just once. And I must admin, it worked... But not anymore.

I do not hide that milliondollarhomepage helped me to understand how to authenticate artists, I have written that in my blog, but I have different target, and you can see that many of our donors even do not provide links to their sites even though they were offered to do so. That means their target is not just the advertising. Of cause there are donors that advertise their sites - some of them are professional artists with amazing story behind their pixel.

I hope this will explain everything better:
